Design of masonry building?

Hi i need to analyse a masonry building for seismic loads and to provide adequete retrofiting measures. I studied IS1905, it gives detail for design but i need some information regarding analysis.

aplus answers:

The UBC standard in the U.S. Is mostly obsolete, only a few jurisdictions are still using it, because it hasn’t been updated since 1997.

The U.S. Standard for seismic is ASCE 7-02 or 7-05 or 7-98, (via, if you wish, IBC 2000, 2003, or 2006) depending on what code is relevant to the jurisdiction. In India (if you’re in India), you need to find out what that equivalent is (Perhaps Eurocode? I have no idea), but that will give you more insight into the code required analysis, including force distribution.

Barring that, the most relevant item in seismic analysis is the weight of the building elements, and their connections, start finding out what the floor weighs, is there a sprinkler system, carpet, ceiling tile, how much the structural floor weighs, wall partitions inside the building, etc. When it comes to determining adequacy, you also need to find out how floors are connected to walls, how walls are reinforced (I hope they aren’t cyclopean or unreinforced walls, because those will probably not meet current code unless you are in a very low seismic zone, I don’t have any idea how India’s seismic zones lie, I just know Bam in (Iran?) had a bad earthquake a few years ago.

Sorry I can’t be of more help.

I’d go with Dynamic HTML (webpage design), then php & mysql this will cover some database design stuff that can be implemented within your webpages.
You will want SQL as well if your working with databases.
For building servers, Windows Server, IIS6. Skip the TCP/IP, this is networking protocols. Perl and CGI may be useful for web server programming also.

Either increase the size of the members, increase the number of members, or reduce the load.

I see no other options.

If you are using wood, you could switch to steel, or use glu-lam wood headers or beams (but they are more expensive).

Building owners will have to suck it up, if they want their building inspected and approved for public or private occupancy.

Owners only understand that the building can stand on its own
that the engineer who construct it is also responsible
that 99 % of the building is safe for a time that
that whenever there is an earthquake damages, insurance is justified
that when big fire will occur, investigation will focus on where the fire started.
If it is a typhoon that destroyed the building, other houses also are destroyed. . I t is just natural

pDepending on how many improvement ventures you have completed, the odds are pretty good that something unexpected will happen. It doesnt always matter how prepared you are, sometimes bad things just happen. One thing about being prepared is that you will be aware of the places that are most likely to have problems. The best prepared people learn from their mistakes so that they dont repeat them The better prepared you are, the less chance for you to make mistakes. Disasters happen with home projects, but usually only with those who lack preparation The following information is to help you be better prepared for your job./p
pYou need to think about the weather in terms of how hot or cold it is as well as the heaviness in the air. Concerns can be negligently introduced when the environment is less than the best while working on a project. There are but a few of the same areas that apply to what happens with the swelling and shrinking as a result of influx of temperatures. Hence, decide what you have to hold down with fasteners, where they are located and the state of the climate. Also, if you are sealing anything, be sure there are no special considerations you have to make if there is excess moisture in the air./p
pThere is so much for you to discover about home improvement, and we certainly can help you in this area. Take a look at what is happening on your end, and that may help you to perfect what you need. The most innocuous details can sometimes hold the most important keys as well as the greatest power. You understand that you are ultimately the one who knows which will have the highest impact. The remainder of this article will provide you with a few more very hot ideas about this./p
pSpecial concern for detail needs to be taken when doing these types of projects. For instance, when working with wires, make sure they are installed properly so the electrical device will function. When you tightened any screws to hold them down, they will not spread out and expose any individual wire strands. Fasteners must also be used with the right size washers. If you do not have them, then get them at the hardware store. To ensure that what you have done will last for some time, you must use washers that will ensure that the manual installation will last. It is important to have the proper sized washer to prevent loosening, rust, and other malfunctions./p
pIf you have never worked with power tools, or you are unfamiliar with safety precautions, then you need to get yourself familiar before using them. If you are careful the odds of an accident are slim, but anything is possible. Power tools can be dangerous, and that is why they have rules for your safety. Two inexpensive items that you can buy at any hardware store can protect you from injury./p
pIts important to do lots of work before you get stuck into your next project. Dont take risks when it comes to safety as weve discussed./p

pWhile many people have very specific dreams ofnbsp;enjoying theplentifulnbsp;gainsnbsp;that can be made from flipping houses very few people put too terribly much thought into the process or any formulas that might be pertinent to success when it comes to flipping houses as a real estate investment venture or for the sake of building a nice comfortable lifestyle or retirement.nbsp;A lot of peoplenbsp;may tell you the donts of house flipping, but thennbsp;what aboutnbsp;the dos?nbsp;br /br /nbsp;If you want real money out of this business, you got to treat it with serious intent.nbsp; Before putting an effort on something, make sure you have planned it out carefully. It will be just a waste of time and money to invest into something youre not sure its worth it.nbsp;Planning is very important in business./p
pstrongBudget/strongbr /br /There must be a planned budget for everything – whether how much money for the property, the renovations, etc.nbsp; Its a lot of work flipping houses.nbsp; You want to have a good idea of how much homes in the neighborhood are worth, the value of your property as is and the estimated value of the property once improvements are made.nbsp;Additionally, you will have to know how much youre probably going to spend on the repairs to be done.nbsp;Set a clear budget on your every real estate endeavor.nbsp;br /br /strongInspection/strong/p
pThis is one of the most important things to be done before you should start choosing the house to flip.nbsp;Be prepared to walk away if the inspection determines that there is more work needing to be done than simple cosmetic repairs.nbsp; You want to make changes that people can see because those are generally the changes that drive up the cost of the house.nbsp; If the changes arent exactly visible, even when its very necessary, youd like to avoid spending too much on them.nbsp; When investing money and labor in a house, always consider its potential profit offers.nbsp; If it isnt significant then you need to walk away before the property becomes a real estate investment money pit.nbsp;Inspection is very important..nbsp;/p
pstrongConsider the Buyers Needs/strongbr /br /Its what flippers usually forget.nbsp;Afterall, this is business so dont treat it personally.nbsp;Keep costs down and feelings out.nbsp;Flipping houses doesnt need to be according to your personal taste. It should be according to the neighborhood the house is located and according to the need of your potential buyer..nbsp;/p
pstrongDo Not Waste Money/strongbr /br /Youve poured blood, sweat, and probably more than a few tears into your flip but you cannot set the value of the property by the effort youve placed into it.nbsp;Have realistic expectations. Think about how much you are to earn from your efforts. In addition, carefully think about how much you are willing to go down on the price without compromising the profit.nbsp; When it comes to establishing an asking price for the house youre flipping, always remember that you are in the market to make money, not waste it..br /br /With many flippers who are newnbsp;in the business, expect to lose money on your firstnbsp;property investment.nbsp;Smallearningsnbsp;at firstnbsp;are normal. Whatscrucialnbsp;is how use these profits for morevictoriousnbsp;flips in the future.nbsp; What you learn fromnbsp;the firstnbsp;flips arenbsp;crucial. These lessonsnbsp;can be used tonbsp;make more money in the real estate industry./p

Spring time is near and it is time for your annual maintenance inspection. After the winter weather it is always a good time to do a maintenance evaluation of your property and fix whatever needs repair. This will protect the value and integrity of your home or business property. Moisture intrusion from the roof, windows, doors, siding or else where will cause mold to grow within the structure and damage it. Simply using some caulking or patching compound can often prevent expensive repairs later on down the road. An over loaded circuit or a bad breaker could cause a fire. There are over 450 items we inspect when doing a maintenance evaluation. Call A+ Inspections (if you live or work in the So. California area) to schedule your property maintenance inspection.

p There are several causes for the arrival of mold on your property. Accessibility to possible hidden leaks, water damaged materials from either a remodel or weather damage, hidden water sourcesnbsp; and high humidity levels can all be indicators as well as health complaints. With the renewal of the school year fast approaching, schools are especially susceptible due to delayed maintenance throughout the summer months. Kleen Air Environmental Charlotte is equipped to handle all levels of mold removal. /p
p Indications that you may have mold can be stains on walls or ceilings. Odor can also indicate that molds are growing where these smells may be lingering. Anywhere there may be a leak that has gone unnoticed is a potential breeding ground for mold. Either due to weather, leaky pipes or an overflowing toilet; if the area hasnrsquo;t been properly dried there is a chance mold will appear.nbsp;/p
pMolds reproduce with tiny spores floating through the air that cannot be seen by the naked eye. This too is a reason to check for mold in your home or place of business. Some places where mold can grow are in showers, under sinks, refrigerators, dishwashers and crawl spaces to name a few. Kleen Air Environmental can inspect all of these places for you./p
p Being a fungus, there are many different health risks associated with mold. Respiratory issues, allergic reactions, asthma, headaches, fatigue, chronic sinusitis and a weakened immune system to name a few. In some instances the fungi can become toxic causing more severe health problems in people that have been exposed. These same illnesses can also affect household pets.nbsp; All the more reason to schedule a remediation inspection as soon as possible.br /br /If your home has been exposed to excessive moisturenbsp; and you feel mold removal is in your future; please call the professionals at Kleen Air Environmental for an inspection, removal and clean up of any problem areas. a href=http://www.kleenairenvironmental.com/ target=_blankKleen Air Environmental/a is a IICRC mold remediation company with twenty-five years of experience./p
